At the age of thirty, after traveling the world for twelve years as a basketball player, I decided in 1984 to settle and build a hotel at Patong Beach, Phuket Island, Thailand. The K-Hotel (K stands for my last name, Karasek) was opened in 1985 with 26 rooms and was extended to 44 rooms the following year.
