Commitment to Environmental Protection.
Over the past twenty years, The Royal Phuket Yacht Club Hotel has been recognized by leading international travel and environmental publications and organizations for its service excellence and commitment to environmental protection.
The Royal Phuket Yacht Club takes a number of measures to help environmental sustainability. Conscious about the number of hotels in Phuket, Thailand and the world over which consume the worlds precious resources, The Royal Phuket Yacht Club has taken it's own initiative to try and reduce waste, water use and expenditure. To do this, the hotel:
- Educates local children and community members about environmental issues.
- Planted trees around a reservoir which has since been converted to a public park by the Phuket Govenor.
- Provides guests with the option of using towels for another day and therefore reduces resources including energy costs involved in laundering, water use, time and prolongs the life of the towels.
- Carries out maintenance with the interest of conservation in mind by replacing outdated, old and wasteful appliances for efficient products.
- Takes various steps to reduce energy consumption through energy efficient lighting and appliances and turning off these devices when not required.
- Promotes their environmental initiatives and awards for environmental commitment on their website which provides potential guests with information on how they can help the environment by staying in hotels with a commitment to environmental protection.
- Educates their staff about why the Royal Phuket Yacht Club takes these actions and the importance of following their environmental principles as well as encouraging staff to continue these good practices at home.
- Participates in green programs.
- Guestrooms have windows that open or are part of a fresh-air exchange system which reduces the use of air conditioning as well as being healthier for the guest as fresh air is far better than stale air.
- Uses cleaning products and cleaning styles that are not harsh or harmful to people.
- Reduces water usage in bathrooms, cleaning, watering of gardens and general hotel practices.
- Practices Gray Water Recycling by reusing waste water from kitchens, bathroom sinks and showers and laundry facilities for use on property gardens which therefore reduces the amount of fresh water needed.
- Uses recycling bins on the property to encourage and educate staff and guests to put their recyclable items in these bins rather than the trash and therefore reduces waste.
- Has conference facilities and fitness centres which provides conference coordinators the option of organising their event at a property that has environmental conservation practises, as well as those health conscious people looking for a gym at a hotel that cares for the environment.
