Songkran

(13 Apr 2012 - 15 Apr 2012)

The most frenetic festival in Thailand is Songkran, the Thai New Year and what would appear to be a national water fight. Held from the 13th to 15th April each year... it's a wet one!


Buddha's Birthday

(15 May 2012)

On May 15th, local Buddhist Temples celebrate this day by holding candlelit processions. A tourist can take part in these parades and it can prove great fun, although proper respect should be shown.


Queen's Birthday

(12 Aug 2012)

The Queen's Birthday falls on 12 August which is also Thailand's Mother's Day. As with all royal anniversaries this celebration guarantees a firework display.


Vegetarian Festival

Place: Phuket Town (26 Sep 2012 - 5 Oct 2012)

The annual Phuket Vegetarian Festival is the most dramatic celebration by Phuket's Chinese-Thai majority and it takes place during the first nine days of the ninth lunar month of the Chinese calendar, (usually late September or early October).


Loy Kratong

(8 Nov 2012 - 10 Nov 2012)

Some of the most beautiful sights are the festivities relating to the Loy Kratong, held on the night of November's full moon. All over the country, little floats (kratong) are made from banana trunks, flowers and candles and set afloat on the water.


Phuket Simon Cabaret

Place: Patong, Phuket (1 Dec 2012 - 31 Dec 2013)

Since opening in October 1991, the Phuket Simon Cabaret prides itseld as Phuket's most reknown entertainment venue.  A night at one of their two daily performances is a night to remember.


King's Birthday

(5 Dec 2012)

The King's Birthday is on the 5th December. The King is much revered throughout Thailand, and all Thais celebrate his birthday, with government buildings, private homes, businesses and the palace especially illuminated.


Chinese New Year

Place: Phuket (23 Jan 2013)

Chinese New Year begins with the new moon and is the biggest festival in the Chinese calendar.
