With a tropical monsoon climate, and year round warm weather Phuket is a great holiday location. The hottest two periods are from April to May and September to October, the latter is also the wettest.
The NE monsoon season, which last from November through to March, is the best time to book a Phuket resort holiday. The average temperature during this time is a comfortable 24C to 32C thanks to the cool monsoon breezes.
In April temperatures soar from 27C to 36C. The humidity and heat is only abated by frequent short and heavy thundery showers. April is the hottest time in Phuket. Thai New Year (April 13) is a great time to visit with all out water fights creating a fun atmosphere whilst also offering a welcome relief from the intense heat.
June, July and August is favoured by the locals. During this time most everything is less expensive and a whole lot less crowded. Temperatures are much more moderate, ranging from 20C to 33C. Sunshine breaks through the brief but heavy showers that are the norm during this time of year.
Don’t forget your umbrella or a raincoat during September and early October as this is the wet season in Phuket.
